Sk care: A cough going on for this length of time requires medical evaluaiton. Depending on her symptoms otherwise, there are many things to consider. She may need a chest x-ray and she may require some laboratory testing. She may even need further testing with pulmonary function tests and more sophisticated testing. Encourage her to see her pcp. It is time!

Needs Eval....: A cough lasting this long needs to be evaluated so it can be treated. Common etiologies include bronchospasm, post-nasal drip, gerd or some combination of these. Each of these diagnoses has an entirely different treatment and if it is due to more than one diagnosis, the cough will persist until every cause has been effectively treated. She may need some tests to properly diagnose this cough.
