A member asked:

What are the chances of me getting cancer if my mom tested positive for the gene?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Which gene?: If your mother has been shown to be positive for one of the cancer genes such as bcra1 or bcra2, society owes it to test you as well. You do want to know, as you can plan based on accurate knowledge. Carrying one of these gives you a better-than-even chance of having one or more of the associated cancers pop up during a lifetime.
