Failing root canal: Root canal therapy isn't 100% successful. The tooth may also have a fracture. Ask your dentist what your options are and if it is advisable to spend more time and money salvaging this tooth. In some cases, it is better to extract and place an implant.

Re evaluate: See a n endodontist. There are many causes for what you feel. A missed canal, crack, incompletely treated canals, etc get a thorough diagnosis so proper treatment can follow.

Probably cracked: If the retreatment was done by a specialist (endodontist) then you have done the best you can in that regard. If not, see the specialist for evaluation. 2 other things can cause the pain: 1. The bite may need to be adjusted and the ligament allowed time to heal, and 2. The tooth may be cracked. See a prosthodontist if your general dentist is out of options for diagnosis.
