Not lockjaw: "lockjaw" occurs when your jaw actually opens so far that the jaw joint cannot return to its normal position and you can't get your upper and lower teeth to go together the way they normally do. Jaw joint films, or a cat scan may reveal a pathological reason, and possibly you need treatment, that can range from simple to complex.

Not lockjaw: Fortunately you do not have "lockjaw". If you did your jaw would get stuck open or closed after it made the loud noise. It does sound like you have a reducing disc in your TMJ that is causing the noise and subsequently causing the pain. The best course of action is to see a dentist or oral surgeon for treatment.
