Cracking Jaw: If your jaw suddenly popped or cracked, for the first time, and it's painful, that may indicate a displaced disc in the jaw joint. For the short term, try a soft non-chewing diet, nsaid's and perhaps a muscle relaxant. If it persists, see a dentist or oral surgeon that treats TMJ problems. You may benefit from a splint. A TMJ MRI may be indicated. You may be considered a candidate for arthroscopy.
