I have no injury to my thumb that i know of other than the fact that i do have carpel tunnel syndrome on my left hand. what could be causing tip of my right thumb to be numb?

More carpal tunnel: The most common cause of thumb numbess is carpal tunnel. And since you have it on your other hand it increases the chance of you having it on the right side as well. Other less common possibilities include a pinched nerve in the neck and at the base of the thumb.
