Eventually: Gingivitis is the inflamation of the gums which will lead to bone loss and eventual loosening and loss of teeth. Treat it now when it is easy!

No: Just gingivitis, although not favorable, is not bad enough to cause tooth loss. But if you don't treat it now, it could progress to bone loss and then you will end up losing some teeth. See your dentist now please.
