No: Gingivitis is caused by a buildup of the local bacteria that constantly reside in your mouth. It is not like catching a common cold or an std, which involve outside organisms. If you have inflammation of your gums (gingivitis) have it treated by your dentist.

Yes: Any gum disease, which is a bacterial infection, is a communicative disease. Mother can pass it to their children and one person can pass the bacteria to another. Control the bacteria and the cause is managed. Consider the perio protect method j clin dent 2012;23:48–56 as it has been shown to be better than conventional methods.

Not likely: Just regular gingivitis or inflammation of the gums can be caused by some bacteria that aren't very aggressive, and you usually woldn't catch it from someone. The more advanced disease, periodontits, however, has been shown to pass from spouse to spouse through intimate contact.
