How does gingivitis go away?

Oral Hygiene: Gingivitis is a reversible disease of the gums; however, you must see your dentist to have a professional cleaning which will jumpstart you on the way to recovery. Antibacterial mouth rinses to prevent bacterial growth may be recommended in addition to frequent, careful, tooth brushing and flossing. Please see your dentist before this condition gets any worse.

With cleaning: Gingivitis is inflammation of the gums, which is usually due to bacteria-containing plaque and tartar at the gum line. Daily brushing & flossing prevents plaque formation. Your dentist will need to physically remove the plaque and tartar. In the absence of bacteria and plaque, the body is able to heal the inflammation. Gingivitis can also be caused by other factors, please consult your dentist.

Gingivitis: The most common cause of gingivitis is poor oral hygiene. Brush and floss twice daily and visit your dentist at least twice a year. The plaque & tartar that cause gingivitis must be physically removed. A toothbrush can't reach far enough down the gums. Flossing can help prevent it in the future and a dentist can clean the teeth properly and prescribe an antiseptic oral rinse to enable healing.

Floss regularly: True gingivitis, limited to just inflammation in the gums, can be reversed with good oral care and regular dental visits. You want to get it checked though to make sure it hasn't progressed to the more serious form of periodontitis.

Brush and floss: By brushing properly three times a day and flossing at least once a day, you will reduce inflammation and get your gums healthy.
