Are you depressed?: Citalopram can be harmful, especially if taken during the 3rd trimester. But recent evidence shows that depression is worse for the baby than antidepressants.

Weigh risk/ benefits: Citalopram has been assigned to pregnancy category c by the fda. Spontaneous abortion and induced withdrawal effects has been described. In 3d trimester infants exposure may require prolonged hospitalization, resp. Support, and tube feeding. They might develop complications consistent with serotonin syndrome (resp.Distress, cyanosis, apnea, seizures, temp.Instability, feeding intolerance, tremor.
