Ankle sprain : After the initial sprain, during the acute phase your physician should have recommended rice(rest, ice, compression, elevation). After a couple of weeks , after the swelling goes down , it is very important to strengthen the ligaments by intense physical therapy .If pain persists you may need to see your physician for other treatment options such as a corticosteroid injection and a supportive device.

Have it evaluated.: Pain due to trauma may be due to fracture, sprains, arthritis, muscle, nerve or tendon injuries. Have the foot evaluated so that you may get the appropriate care.
