A member asked:

Is it possible for a hospital to delay surgery for appendicitis if a patient has a really high fever?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Rarely: Were that person with high fever, to be unstable, as for example in septic shock, the person would need to be stablized usually before going into the operating room, with IV fluids to get the blood pressure up if needed. Patients with appendicitis usually do not have high fever. High fever in appendicitis is worrisome and would usually get the patient rushed off to for surgery without sig delay.
