No: Wearing a standard face mask is usually effective in keeping others from getting what ails you plus (perhaps) reduces your risk of getting a respiratory illness. N95 or other certified filter masks work if your face fits, but you only wear them in the presence of an known or potentially infected person(s).

Not if used properly: Wearing a mask helps cut down the possibility of sharing germs between people. To be effective it must be changed every hour or so as it is no longer effective once to gets wet from your breath. If you are sick the best thing to do is not wear a mask, but stay home and recover rather then risking exposing other people.
