Possibly: The blood sugar level could be a sign of glucose intolerance or borderline diabetes. I would recommend close followup with your doctor and weight loss if your child is over weight.

NOT NECCESSARILY: In a 8 years old child one time blood sugar done at random does not suggest diabetes or prediabetes it should be checked after 8 hours of fastng overnight and if it is still over 100 than it may be considered abnormal . And if non fasting upto 125mgm is normal.

Normal level: You are looking this as something it is not.A 114 blood sugar is well within the normal range. If your kid starts drinking & eating continuously but loses 5 pounds in a few days you are looking at a sign of diabetes. Put the meter away and let the kid be a kid unless he is acting sick.
