Is 162 blood sugar level after eating too high for someone who does not have diabetes?

Yes: After eating your blood sugar is considered to be abnormal if it is more than 140. 162 does not meet the definition of diabetes after eating but it should be looked into further with a fasting blood sugar and hga1c. See your doctor.

Yes, if...: It is measured 2 hours after eating
see below
fasting sugar 100-125 is pre-diabetes and > 2-hrs after eating 140-199 is
prediabetes.
Fasting 126 and higher and > 2 hours after eating 200 and greater is diabetes.
