Blood sugar of 87 is normal, but its value obtained depends on how soon after ingestion of carbohydrates occur. A better test is a "glucose tolerance test " administered after a calibrated dose of glucose over several hours post ingestion. See your physician for guidance.

A fasting plasma glucose of 87, done at an accredited laboratory, not a glucometer reading, is well in the normal range and not a cause for concern.
