Exercise in general: Is beneficial & 90% of disc herniations resolve nonoperatively. In terms of specific exercises, core strengthening is important but so is technique. The type of exercise may need to be modified if it aggravates any symptoms. If not, then you can continue but don't forget to include cardiovascular and flexibility routines as well. Cross training can help minimize a chance of exacerbation.
