Likely not: Umbilical hernias are common and most do not cause symptoms. Usually symptoms arise if bowel get caught within hernia causing a blockage but this should be apparent with severe pain and swelling at hernia site and symptoms of bowel obstruction with nausea and vomiting.

Umb hermia: It can be cause of your pain or not. Umbilical hernias can hurt cause either fat or bowel can get stuck and cause swelling of the tissue due to blood supply being affected. With that said the pain you are having may have nothing to do with your umbilical hernia. You need a better evaluation by your doctor or emegency room . Like an x-ray or ct-scan.

Umbilical hernia: Imaging showing a fat containing hernia means you need a hernia repair. The symptoms are intermittent pain and nausea. The repair is elective, unless you are vomiting, febrile and in pain. So absent fever and vomiting, it is your job to consult your doc, then your surgeon for an elective repair. The er will admit you only for emergency care.
