I had gastric bypass in 2004. recently found out i have a "small hiatal hernia". could this be the cause of nausea, vomiting, stomach pain?

Yes, in theory: It could.. Although a small hiatal hernia is often asymptomatic, it needs to be considered by your doctor as part of differential diagnosis.
