Can you stop?: The periodontal ligament (pdl) surrounds each tooth root in-between it and the bone. It is made up of the same fibers that make up the ligaments in your joints. If you can give them rest they will heal and start to feel better in 7 to 10 days.

Days - weeks: If you have eliminated the excessive pressure on the tooth it will usually improve. The time needed depends on the damage and the duration it was traumatized. Keeping a soft diet in that area, using Ibuprofen 400 - 600 mg 4 times / day for 5 - 7 days will speed the recovery and provide pain relief. Usually 1 - 2 weeks is enough time. Good luck.
