A member asked:

My echo showed a thickened mitral valve, myxomatous with no regurgitation. i am a 20 year old male. should i be worried?

No: The most important thing from the echo is there is no leak. Also since you didn't mention i will assume everything else was normal. Could your valve worsen over time to the point you need surgery? Maybe. Is there something you can do to prevent it? No. The chances are it will be fine for a long time or even the rest of your life. You just need to follow the valve periodically with your doctor.

No: The risk of developing serious issues with the valve seems quite low. Regular physical exams by your doctor will help ensure this.
