Careful follow-up: Both ascus and asc-h fall into the previous category ii, or "atypical". Your friend should be referred for hpv testing and colposcopy, which is a method to visualize the cervix. If any lesions are seen, the ob/gyn will take a biopsy to look for changes of hpv infection or cervical cancer. It is important that your friend follow-up with her doctor.
