Depends: Your surgeon is in the best position to tell you. The answer depends upon the type of bunionectomy you are having performed, your overall health and your occupation. If you have a sit-down job and can elevate your foot, y, then probably. Of course, if it is your right foot, driving can be issue. If you have to be on your feet for long periods of time at work, then probably not.

Depends on work: This depends on several factors. What type of bunion procedure is being done and what type of job you have. For most procedures, if you have a job where you can keep your foot elevated then, 6 days should be enough. If you need to stand, then i would say you need more time. You should really discuss this with your surgeon.

Maybe not: The average bunionectoy requires some significant bone surgery. This kind of surgery usually produces significant post-op pain for 4-5 days. Getting up on the foot to early may cause more pain , swelling and potentially a complicarion.

It depends: Some procedure are complex and will require long periods of immobilization. Consult with you doctor as to how long you will need to take off.
