Hand veins: As dr. Morrison said, varicose veins on the hands would be extremely unusual. Prominent hand veins are common and normal. Hand veins typically become more apparent with age as there is tissue loss between the hand bones that makes your veins stick out more. There are cosmetic measures that can be taken to make your veins less apparent but prominent hand veins are almost always normal.

Prominent hand veins: I have never seen varicose veins of the hand. More likely your hand veins become larger and more prominent due to genetic factors and aging. With aging, tissue volume is lost and the veins appear larger. There are excellent cosmetic hand vein procedures such as laser and sclerotherapy that can eradicate the unsightly hand veins with excellent results and no down time.

Hand varicose veins: Varicose veins do not tend to occur in the hands or arms. Rather, your veins become more visible and appear enlarged as you age and the overlying skin & fat thins out overlying them. Hand vein are important for routine blood tests and also very important for IV access if you are ever hospitalized. I would discourage you from having any treatments done to remove these healthy veins.
