Maybe: Silver and shiny is likely an amalgam filling, it shines thru the enamel of teeth as a shiny grey shadow. Unfortunately decay shows up very similarly and may be difficult to differentiate even to a trained eye. Decay can be a wide range of color including black, grey, white and orange.

Maybe...: Decay comes in many colors and could be gray & shiny, or brown and not shiny. If you suspect you have decay, see your dentist and get it sorted out; small fillings are easier & less costly than waiting for the tooth to hurt or fail.

See your dentist: Tooth decay is something that needs to be examined and determined by a dentist in person, and often with the use of x-rays as most cavities cannot be seen visually, even by a trained professional. Please don't try to determine whether or not you have decay yourself. Hopefully you are seeing your dentist for routine checkups. If you see anything unusual in between, have it checked out right away.

Tooth decay: It's usually dark orange/brown/black and dull. Decay can be slightly different colors on different people and teeth. If you are concerned, go see your dentist. If you are questioning a recent diagnosis, then see another dentist for s second opinion.
