Many things: Many people neglect their dental health because they have never been taught the importance of good dental health. Some people believe they will lose their teeth as they age, so why take care of them. They don't realize you can keep all your teeth for your lifetime with proper care. Some people have an unnatural fear of the dentist which prevents them from obtaining the care they need.

Many reasons...fear.: People who put off dental care for many reasons, often complex or personal. Common factors include fear (probably the majority), the cost of care, ignorance of the need or even apathy. Fortunately, there are good ways to manage or overcome any of these barriers. Remember that postponed dental needs don't just add up, they multiply.
