Sudden holes in teeth, is there a health reason for sudden change?

Dental decay: That goes undetected weakens the structure of teeth. With time, teeth become brittle & will fail structurally. You would then "suddenly" notice "holes" in your teeth when the enamel collapses from decay. This is a health concern. Sweets, soda, candy, energy drinks, and acidic foods along with inadequate oral hygiene & lack of professional dental care are all involved. Go to your dentist asap!

Undetected decay: Teeth don't decay overnight... It varies on how fast they will decay, depending on your diet, oral hygiene, and genetics. These cavities were probably brewing for a while... When was your last dental check-up? If it was more than six months ago, it's time to call for an appointment. Other reasons for rapid decay include dry mouth and a sugary diet, coupled with poor oral hygiene.
