Any legitimate reason for dental offices to insist on coming in every 6 months and getting an xray?

Possible: Are they following a potential problem that needs careful attention?

Possibly : Most people do not need dental x-rays every six months. This is only nessecary if they are following a specific problem. If this problem does not show signs of progressing after the first 2-3 x-rays. Then the length between images should be increased. It is not legitimate to take dental x-rays every six months just because it is "routine".
