I would tend to agree with your ER physician: if you aspirated a foreign object you would be coughing up a storm. Your concern about the perfluorohexane sulfonic acid (PFHxS) is valid, yet your were chewing on tight wad of the floss to begin with, exposing you to the chemical nonetheless.
