YES!: If you mean mandatory that the government is going to come and give you the vaccine, then no. You always have the right to decide your health care options. If you mean mandatory as really, really a good idea for someone with a chronic respiraotry disease, then yes. Flu could kill you. It really is as simple as that. Exchange the pain of a shot for possible life-saving treatment today.

Good idea: Nothing is "mandatory", but it's strongly recommended. Patients with COPD should have yearly flu vaccines and have the pneumonia vaccine once ( maybe twice, depending on age). COPD will make the effects of influenza more severe, and you should do what you can to avoid getting it. It will almost certainly exacerbate your COPD and may land you in the hospital.
