Not Directly...: The answer is more complicated though...A child with developmental or neurologic problems often has a higher risk of having epilepsy. Ilness/infection/fever lower the threshold for triggering a seizure in someone with a seizure disorder. This would seem to need evaluation by a pediatric neurologist as well as an ent.

Good advice from : Dr. Smith. A child with autism has a 2% risk of. Manifesting epilepsy by age 5 & an 8% risk by age 10. In a child with. Autism & intellectual disability, the risk increases to 35% by age 5 & 67% by age 10. Since the ear infections lower the seizure threshold, he may need pe tubes. An ENT will seek clearance for anesthesia from the pediatric neurologist who evaluates & treats the seizures.
