Febrile seizures: Febrile seizures occur in kids usually between 6 mo. And 6 yrs. and peak in incidence at about 18 months. The good thing is that their prognosis for them is excellent. When you check for school performance at eight years of age they do just as well as matched kids who never had a febrile seizure. You can talk to a Peds neurologist for confirmation.

Wording matters: A febrile seizure is triggered by the fever & often comes on before you know the kid is sick. The label is usually reserved for infants & toddlers before school age.If a kid has a seizure when they are older,it begins to cross into the "seizure with fever" rather than because of fever. This subgroup can go on to face seizures for their lifetime.A thorough evaluation/discussion with his doc is needed
