If you are 100 years: Old, why would you want to play football? Once the growth plate closes in osgood schlatter disease it is just as strong as it should be. My father and sister both had this and went on to play in competative athletic events without any residual problems at all.

Resume sports: Once the growth plate closes, the pain usually subsides as well and people are able to resume full activities.

Yes: Yes - no relative risks after growth plates close. Age determines rate of growth plate closure.
