May help but...: It is unclear if flax oil lowers cholesterol- many studies suggest it does but some do not. Fish oil is a more proven method of improving one's cholesterol profile. But flax may have other benefits like thinning blood & reducing inflammation. I question the value of taking zetia- see http://en.Wikipedia.Org/wiki/ezetimibe. Natural alternatives like Niacin & plant sterols are safer & work better.

MAYBE: Flaxseed oil can help lower LDL cholesterol but it may not have much effect on increasing HDL or "good cholesterol." in general, men tend to have lower HDL than women. Ideally, your cholesterol:hdl ratio should be 4.5:1 or less. Check to see if lp(a), your inherited risk, is elevated. This must be treated with niacin. Also, get a thyroid check -up (incl., t3ria, tsh, total t4, antibodies, rt3).

No: Flax seed oil has not been shown to have any significant impact on blood lipid levels.
