Persistent injury: Truly depends if you are describing a dislocation of the patella(kneecap) or a true dislocation between the femur and tibia. These are 2 very different injuries. Patella dislocations are somewhat common occurrences may involve a small ligament tear that allows the patella to shift laterally. Persistent problems can be from mal-alignment of the patella or cartilage injury to the patella or femur.
