Maybe not: Knee replacement is not indicated to treat chronic patellar instability. Knee replacement is for arthritis. In many cases of chronic instability the joint becomes arthritic, and then knee replacement may be indicated. If the problem is purely patellar instability, then pursue patellar stabilizing procedures. If arthritis is now the overwhelming problem, then knee replacement is correct.
