Are there different options for treating knee cap dislocation?

Ortho consult: There are multiple different non-surgical and surgical options. It is important to make an appt with an ortho doctor. Some of the important factors are age at first dislocation, associated injuries, number of dislocations, knee malalignment, and generalized "loose ligaments", etc. A doctor needs to assess these factors prior to determining which treatment is appropriate.

Yes: Many factors come into play. Usually conservative treatment with bracing and pt is affective for acute, non-recurrent patellar dislocation. Recurrent dislocations and some acute dislocations may require surgical repair of the medial patellofemoral ligament or re-alignment.
