Schizophrenia: No one really knows. There have been studies suggesting a spectrum of signs or symptoms that may run in relatives of an individual who has the illness. Genetics play a role but it is far from explaining it. Many theories abound, including the higher rate of occurence in schizophrenic patients who's mothers may have been exposed to colds or viruses in winter.
