Is it true that if you have diabetes you can not have children?

No: Diabetes has little to no effect on fertility. Though diabetes can complicate a pregnancy, it can be managed by a trained ob/gyn physician. In some cases the help of a high risk OB (maternal fetal medicine) will be required.

No: Diabetics are just as capable of having children as anyone else. You may require supervision during your pregnancy by a specialist trained in management of high risk pregnancies as you may be at an increased risk for complications. It will also require careful management of your diabetes during the pregnancy.
