Probably not serious: Extrasystolic beats, premature atrial or ventricular contractions are beats that occur before the regular 'sinus' beats; since every heart muscles has the ability to cause a heart contraction, these are not uncommon; 7/day are very few; can occur with mitral valve prolapse, caffeine, smoking...If any question, next should do a stress test to assess if there could be any underlying heart problem.

Palpitations : Palpitations are often benign. Everyone has few extra heart beats and some people feel them. As long as the amount of extra systoles is not high, there's nothing to worry about.

Palpitations: The questions to be answered are, "what type of extra beats are they...And what is the underlying cause of the extra beats?" for example, if your blood pressure is persistently too high, that might be the underlying cause of the arrhythmia. Or you might have a leaking heart valve or coronary heart disease. Your doctor or a cardiologist should be able to provide the answers.
