Depends: It really does still depend on the specific diagnosis. Possible causes can be cardiac, pulmonary, GI, andusculoskeletal; and the treatment and prognosis vary based upon what it is. Might want to sit down with your doctor and discuss what he feels is specifically causing your pain.

Chest pain: i recommend that you stop smoking. Whether related to current issues or not, it's just good for your overall health now and in the future. I would also see a provider about getting a stress test of your heart, and possible Cardiology referral.
