A member asked:

Is pravastatin just as good as lipitor (atorvastatin) cuz i feel lipitor (atorvastatin) is giving me way too much muscle soreness? and pravastatin never did that to me

Usually, yes: If your cholesterol levels are very high, pravastatin might not have been strong enough. For extremely high cholesterol, Lipitor (atorvastatin) and Crestor are the strongest medications. If you have severe muscle cramps, speak to your doctor about changing your medication. Sometimes, taking a supplement co q 10 at a dose of 100 mg can prevent muscle pain with these meds.

Possible but: If that be, for mg for mg they are not the same.Lipitor (atorvastatin) is more stronger than pravachol.Let your md decide in what dosage you should administer to achieve the same effect!
