No: I would suggest stop taking it immediately and call the prescribing physician. Let her know about your sore muscles, and get in to be seen.

Happens: Not normal but is seen as a relatively common side effect of the "statins" which are used to lower cholesterol. Muscle soreness is most likely but in rare circumstances muscle damage can occur to a degree that it raises the muscle enzyme (CPK) level in the blood resulting at its most severe in rhabdomyolysis. Co-enzyme q10 100mg/ day may help off set side effect. If concerned- see doctor.
