If you sprain a double jointed thumb will it still be double jointed after the sprain?

Yes: "double-jointed" refers to an underlying laxity or looseness of your joints. An injury to a double-jointed thumb may cause some initial stiffness, but the underlying cause of the laxity is not changed.
