Jammed thumb: Your thumb could be sprained but it could also be fractured. See your doctor on whether to have an xray to rule out fracture.

Jammed fingers: I have had plenty of these over the years and have found out later (sometimes much later) that the finger was actually broken. Have an exam to find out for sure.
