See md: Unsure how long it has hurt but if it continues to hurt in this location tendonitis of the thumb tendon by the wrist ( de quervain's) is extremely common. Your 'sprain' may have dissipated but if you continue to use your wrist your tendon can become irritated .If u fell hard on your outstretched wrist and have cont'd pain u may have a fx. Of scaphoid .
