Osteomyelitis: Means bone infection, which could be bacterial, fungal or yeast. Even TB can infect bone. But an infection "outside" of the bone cannot, by definition, be called osteomyelitis.

Osteomyelitis: Osteomyelitis is an infection of the bone. You can get infections outs of the bone but then it would be called by a different name.

No, but: "osteomyelitis" means "bone infection". Infection can spread beyond the bone, leading to ascending soft tissue infection or gangrene. Hope this helps.

Osteomyelitis: by definition is infection specifically of the bone, but the infection can spread to other areas via the bloodstream or direct extension. If it did spread to other non-bony regions it would no longer be termed osteomyelitis in those areas.
