Yes, normal: It is normal for the breast to be tender and firm at the biopsy site (or surgery). This is part of the body's normal response to trauma/procedure. It can take 4-8 weeks for the firmness to decrease and it feel like your normal breast tissue. If it does not resolve, then follow up with your physician.

Usually yes: A needle biopsy may result in localized inflammation or a hematome (contained blood) in the area of the biopsy which may feel like a hard lump. If it becomes progressively worse or if you suspect an infection, you need to see your provider. Otherwise it should gradually subside over a course of 2-4 weeks. If it did not go away, you need to check back with your breast care provider to be checked. In addition make sure you get the report of the biopsy to see if there is any concerns abut the result.
