No: I wouldnt worry as long as it is not a severe pain. A dull ache is normal after wires are changed and forces adjusted. If you are concerned you should definitely see the orthodontist.

Tooth pain/braces: Having discomfort a week after placing braces is no reason for concern as long the discomfort shows signs of improving. The tooth sensitivity is caused by inflammation resulting from the pressure the braces are putting on the teeth. The best way to reduce the discomfort is to allow the child to take oral anti-inflammatory medicines such as motrin.

Yes: Any pain is cause of concern. Orthodontic discomfort should be manageable with Ibuprofen and saline rinses, and should diminish very rapidly. To assure that there are no problems, however, return to your orthodontic specialist for evaluation.

No Concern: It is not abnormal for dental discomfort for a week after orthodontic adjustments. It all depends on what type of adjustment has been done. Speak to the orthodontist directly and ask.

Call orthodontist: Any time you have a concern, you should contact your orthodontist. There are two reasons for this: 1 your child may have a problem that needs to be addressed 2 it will put you at ease, whatever the response from the orthodontist. Shen in doubt, call.
