May be keloid: Keloids are scars which may arise spontaneously or the result of trauma including surgical incisions. They must be differentiated from other types of scars such as hypertrophic which are common in the early phase of healing. Treatment if necessary includes many choices including compression, topical medications, silicone sheeting and corticosteroid injections. Surgical treatment is an option.
